Old Town Hall, Thurn and Taxis Palace
and numerous patrician towers.
One of the most famous sights in Regensburg is the Stone Bridge, which crosses the Danube. The bridge, built in the 12th century, is an important example of Romanesque architecture and one of the city’s most recognizable landmarks. Another highlight is Regensburg Cathedral of St. Peter, a magnificent Gothic-style cathedral built in the 13th century. The cathedral contains numerous works of art and relics that reflect the long history of the city.
All in all, Regensburg and the surrounding area offer a wealth of sights. The Thurn und Taxis Palace is particularly worth seeing, a magnificent baroque palace that is open for tours and offers an insight into the life of the royal family.
As an insider tip, we recommend a view over the roofs of Regensburg. The eight-storey north tower of the Trinity Church is open from the end of March to the end of October. The roof terrace of the Galeria Kaufhof is also an insider tip. From there you look far over the city.
The city is diverse in culinary terms. The historic Wurstkuchl is particularly recommended for a small snack and in the evening the French restaurant Orphée. There are extremely good recommendations in the Michelin Guide. The best coffee in town is freshly prepared in the Rehtorik and homemade chocolates candy are served in the Cafe Prinzess, the first coffee house in Germany.
